Flexible Scheduling System
Role: Project Manager
Our school faced a challenge: students needed flexible scheduling to receive tutoring, intervention, or independent study time, yet we had to ensure accountability, compliance, and ease of use. We utilized the students' Advisory class to make this happen. The Travel Advisory System was developed to streamline scheduling, track attendance per state mandates, and provide teachers with essential data—all while keeping the process manageable for students and staff.
This project involved not just the development of a Google Sheets system, but also a cultural shift in how advisory time was structured and implemented.
Advisory Curriculum Development
Role: PM and Instructional Designer
The Advisory program at our two sister schools faced a major challenge: students didn’t take it seriously, and teachers used it as prep time instead of a structured learning opportunity. The goal of this overhaul was to develop a cohesive, multi-year curriculum that scaffolds from 9th to 12th grade, integrates College & Career Readiness (CCR) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and introduces students and teachers to AVID instructional techniques.
For the first year, the same curriculum was implemented for all students, aligning with our schools’ new vision statement and Portrait of a Graduate to establish a shared foundation. Future iterations will include differentiated content for each grade level.
Efficiency and Productivity Systems
Role: PM and Developer
To address growing operational challenges at our early college high school, I developed a series of automated systems within Google Sheets. These included a College Class Eligibility Checker, an Automated Progress Report and Email System, and a Writing Skill Tracker and Feedback System. Each project streamlined critical workflows, reduced manual workload, and improved the accuracy and timeliness of communication and instructional planning.
Curriculum Design
Role: Curriculum Writer
I have written curricula for students from early elementary through high school, including foundational literacy units for 1st and 2nd grade, interdisciplinary projects for 7th grade, and college- and career-readiness coursework for 10th through 12th grade. My work emphasizes meaningful engagement, clear learning targets, and long-term success.
Training and Development
Role: Developer and Facilitator
I have developed and delivered a wide range of teacher trainings on topics including classroom management and AVID instructional strategies, drawing on my certification as a district director for AVID. In addition to leading trainings, I facilitate meetings and convey information through a combination of thoughtfully designed slides and active verbal engagement to ensure clarity, collaboration, and connection.
"Escojo Ensenar"
Producer & Director
Escojo Enseñar (I Choose to Teach) is a teacher training video series I developed during my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic. Designed to support educators working with limited resources, the Spanish-language series focuses on creating effective instructional materials, building engaging lesson plans, and fostering a vibrant learning environment.
To create the scripts, I collaborated with former educators and conducted extensive research to develop a virtual curriculum. The series is organized into units and lessons that begin with the foundational value of education and progress to practical strategies for daily classroom planning.
